Built on Respect for the Trades
Construction work takes skill, discipline, and pride.
The people who build homes, remodel kitchens, and create spaces for families to live in are doing work that matters. It’s demanding, hands-on work that requires attention to detail, problem-solving, and long days on the job site.
Schmidt Bookkeeping was built to support those businesses.
We help construction companies bring structure and clarity to the financial side of their operations so they can focus on what they do best—building.
Why Construction Businesses
My connection to construction started long before I launched Schmidt Bookkeeping.
Growing up, my dad spent years remodeling our home piece by piece. After long days at work, he would pick up his tools and start building—adding archways, installing trim and doors, designing custom cabinets, building a deck around our pool, and eventually finishing the entire basement.
I was usually nearby holding the flashlight, handing him tools, or helping position the next piece.
Watching that process gave me a deep appreciation for the trades and the people who work in them.
When I started my own business, it felt natural to combine that respect for construction with my background in business systems and financial organization.
Today, I work with construction companies and contractors who want clear, reliable financial systems that support their growth.
What I Help Contractors Do
Most construction businesses don’t struggle because they lack work.
They struggle because the financial side of the business never received the same level of structure as the projects they build.
That’s where Schmidt Bookkeeping comes in.
I help contractors:
• Understand which jobs are actually profitable and improve cash flow visibility
• Maintain reliable, organized financial records
• Prepare clean books for their CPA
Instead of guessing, contractors gain clear financial insight they can use to run their business with confidence.
A Practical Approach
Construction companies don’t need complicated financial theories.
They need systems that work.
Schmidt Bookkeeping approaches financial management the same way contractors approach projects:
With structure, consistency, and attention to detail.
The goal isn’t flashy reports or complicated spreadsheets.
The goal is clear numbers that help contractors make better decisions.
Who I Work With
Schmidt Bookkeeping works primarily with construction businesses such as:
• Residential remodeling companies
• General contractors
• Specialty trades
These are business owners who are busy managing jobs, crews, and clients—and want the financial side of their business to run smoothly in the background.
Supporting the People Who Build
Construction businesses build the homes, spaces, and communities we live in.
Schmidt Bookkeeping exists to support the people doing that work.
By bringing structure and clarity to their financial systems, contractors gain the confidence to grow their businesses without the constant stress of uncertain numbers.
If you’re a contractor looking for clearer financial visibility and reliable bookkeeping, we’d be happy to learn more about your business.
